Lyrics

i know this road
my goal is to keep moving
steady down the center lane
but some days
i drift into the racing
and the rushing sides

all this joining and leaving
and swerving just seems
like a great waste of energy
and i envy the ones who
travel light
catch a view
and let it all go by
let it all go

and in my dream
of you and me
we sail to the end of
a path we can't see
til forever is
glorious and gone
and i refuse
to be forced to choose
a tandem totality
and give up the chance
for a mile or two
with you
simply side by side

maybe by choice or
maybe by chance
i'm repeating this journey again
discovering souls at their
most fragile circumstance
they sit in their circles
leave their families behind
surrender control to
manage their minds
it’s a dozen rough steps to take
none bring you closer to me
you're not getting closer
no

but in my dream
of you and me
we sail to the end of
a path we can't see
til forever is
glorious and gone
and i refuse
to be forced to choose
a tandem totality
and give up the chance
for a mile or two
with you
simply side by side

i know this road
my goal is
to keep moving
steady
